Having a mother as a hair dresser doesn't always have it's advantages.
When I was in 2nd grade at MacArthur Elementary School, I had a dear friend named Lindsay.
Lindsay had the most beautiful long brown hair. She was so lucky that her mom could always make her hair look perfect! My favorite hairstyle of Lindsay was when she would sleep in "rags". These "rags" created the most perfect bouncy curls that made this 8 year old totally jealous. I could never convince my mom to attempt the "rags".

Lately, my 4 year old has been a huge fan of the ever so popular Fancy Nancy. I have to admit, I really enjoy the books too! Collin often requests "curly hair like Fancy Nancy". I've curled it a few times with a curling iron but for her...it's just never curly enough.
Last night, I thought back to those perfect curls that my friend had and thought, "I could totally make that happen".
So Collin slept in Rags. And she was very EXCITED!!!
Then she woke up...a little grumpy...and wanted those darn rags OUT!
And wasn't so sure anymore.
I was doing everything I could to hold in my laughter. This was a morning that I wished I had another friend to share this hysterical moment with.
While I was hysterically laughing....my 4 year old was hysterically crying.
I tried to make it better by pulling it into pony tails.
And she tried her hardest not to cry.
End Result:

I can't wait to see what her mother from the 80's comes up with for her prom in 2024!!

oh megs.... you need sponge rollers. Work like a charm. I remember the days when my mom would roll my hair. This made my day. I laughed pretty hard.
Dying of laughter! I'm no hairdresser but my mom always put sponge curlers in overnight and I had the longest brown ringlets.
I cannot stop laughing! Why oh why did I miss this event. Can we please recreate it next time?

So funny! Collin is cute no matter what... but it reminds me of when Suzanne put Ellie's hair in curlers for Halloween as Shirley Temple. After trick or treating that night she combed out the curls and we were laughing so hard... Ellie was crying. We said she looked like Napoleon Dynamite and she cried even harder... then we laughed even harder!!
Drew and I are both dying right now. I did not think that her hair could ever be that big!!!!!! Thanks for sharing with all of us.

Stop it. Sooo funny. Man, those rags really do the job! I like the fluffy pigtails. I was the queen of sponge rollers and Hot Sticks. I would braid my hair then roll the braids in curlers for extra frizz! Thank you for posting this.

I had curly hair and my mom would put sponge rollers in and it would totally look EXACTLY like Collin's hair and she did it on purpose!!! one time a class mate found a lost sponge roller in my hair that had gotten lost in the craziness! I'm dying of laughter!!!! You gals!

Somehow I'm just seeing this! I am laughing so hard! mostly because I had a similar experience with Brighton. I liked the pony tails though. Collin can make any hairdo look cute!
