How did we meet?:
It's hard to say when our 1st date was because we did a lot of "hanging out" for quite some time. Matthew had been living in AZ for about 7 years and I was just...living. It all began somewhere in October of 2001. We had several mutual friends. We always ended up at the same place at the same time. During this time, I was living with my Best Friend, Shauni in a cute little house. No matter what we did in the evening, Matthew and his friends would come to our house about 11:00 each night. We would watch a series of dating shows like, Blind Date, Elimidate, etc. (sorry...there was no tivo at the time so we resorted to whatever was on at the hour.)
These late nights were always so much fun and very innocent. Typically, everyone would start to fall asleep and Matthew and I would sit up chatting til the wee hours of the morning. My friends would always tell me that I was going to date him and I would always think otherwise. He was just a really good friend that made me laugh and I didn't want to ruin that. We actually exchanged a kiss or two a few times between October through February but nothing developed until (as my journal reminds me) February 23, 2002. It was the next day that my nephew George was born and my sister had some complications. I was happy that Matthew was there for me when I was sad. I knew at that time he was someone I was really beginning to like.
So who was this Matthew anyway?...
***Journal entry~May 2, 2002 "the basics--he's 28 years old. He works for Industrial Rideshop. Wait a minute--I sound so silly writing this. Maybe I just need to start over by -this boy is one of the funniest boys. He makes me laugh the most. Every second I have ear to ear smiles when I'm with him. I never ever feel weird when we're together. I'm just me when we hang and that's so fun. I've met the brothers and they're all super radical. Definitely a family that can "hang". He's good for me because he makes me want to do good. I've had much more of a positive attitude about everything since I've been hanging out with Matthew. So that must be good..."
That was the beginning of our love story. Of course the dating scene had several ups and downs but overall, it was one of the funnest times of my life.

how cute is this! and i looked at your sil's after you said this, too cute too. i just can't wait for part two! (and i love how you made sure the say the late nights were "innocent" hah!)
That was so fun to read. I missed out on the courtship you know. I heard bits of it, but by the time I got home from the mission it was pretty much a forsure thing.
I was just gonna leave a message telling you to DO IT (a love post) and here it is! I love it. I love the parts from your journal. Such a cute story about you two falling in love! I can't wait to read part 2. And... so maybe I was feeling awkward at the dance party. Just for you guys though, not Russ. I never feel awkward dancing in front of him - cuz you know why... you saw the video of him dancing in his grinch pants. No need for me to feel funny after that. Haha! As if I ever dance even in front of him.
This post is so cute! I love that you used the phrase "super radical" too. Classic. How fun to write down how your love story started/became.

I love your awesome dating pictures! We were looking at old photos tonight and I came across those Az State Fair photos of you two and you had your spiky hair & half top! I need to give you that photo! Can't wait to see you guys! And please tell Collin the happiest belated Birthday from us...I'm so sad I missed her day, but looks like you made it magical for her!
